Joel S. Mutnick has joined the firm as one of the Audit Partners in the Weston office. Joel is a Certified Public Accountant, (CPA), in the state of Florida, Maryland, NY and Colorado.
Joel has over 40 years of financial accounting experience in public accounting firms and has provided effective, cost-efficient, independent audits in a timely manner to small, medium and large companies in both the private and public sectors nationally and all over the world. In addition to his audit background, Joel has performed reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures services and due diligence work across a wide spectrum of industries including, insurance, healthcare, pension and 401(K) plans, SOC 1 and 2 engagements, HOA’s/COA’s, personnel agencies, mortgage brokers and lenders, Real Estate, software development companies, the financial services industry, a wide-spectrum of professional companies and firms, and not for profit organizations.
Prior experience at several highly regarded accounting firms, includes serving as managing Partner and Partner-in-Charge of SEC/Insurance and Healthcare assurance clients. Joel has held in-house executive management positions at insurance companies where his responsibilities ranged from GAAP, to SAP as well as tax, internal financial reporting and international consolidations and reinsurance negotiations.
Joel has performed more than 100 audits of property and casualty, life and health insurance carriers, throughout the Worldwide for Statutory, GAAP and SEC purposes, as well as for potential mergers/acquisitions and public offerings of companies. He has audited offshore insurance carriers in France, England, Bermuda, the Turks and Caicos and Cayman Islands, both the US and British Virgin Islands.
A frequent speaker at conference throughout the United States, Joel has taught numerous courses on all facets of financial concern within the insurance industry as well as other highly relevant topics in today’s GAAP and regulatory environment. His audiences have included colleagues and staff both within the CPA firms he has worked; and also for high level executives, accounting staff and operating personnel within the insurance industry.
Joel has spoken on such topics in the insurance industry as Regulatory and GAAP reporting for both private and public carriers, captives and other forms of risk-takers; reinsurance transactions, reporting and their impacts.
While Joel serves as the Audit Partner for his clients, those clients see him as a valued resource in his ability to work through specific non-audit issues and matters that arise and works through them towards successful resolutions well before becoming serious issues to the company.
Joel has been actively involved in the Broward community. He proudly served as the only independent member of the three-member, (later changed to 7 member), Audit Committee of the North Broward Hospital District, (Broward Health), for over 25 years.
